Letting children be in control of their room

Letting children be in control of their room

We all need our own space, where we can take refuge for moments of calm. In the same way, children have their bedroom as their own space where they can relax and enjoy indoor activities that they like. There are often disagreements between parents and children about the tidiness and cleanliness in children's rooms. Opinions are generally ambiguous, of course with the tendency towards maintaining order and cleanliness. Nevertheless, it is interesting to study the view that it is beneficial to let the children have their rooms as they wish. This is because we promote the idea that their room is indeed their own space without interfering with it, but also because the clutter does not determine neither the capabilities of the children nor their future.
